Shambles & York

The shambles is believed to be one of the oldest and best examples of a medieval street in Europe. It was once a street of butchers shops with...these days its just us. We specialise in pork products, from pies and sausages to bacon curing and savoury duck (its not duck its pork, the name is from the shape of a ducks' back).
If you look closely at the shops on the street, many of them will give away secrets of the past. The hooks and shelving where the meat once could be found are still present. It's no accident the street is so narrow either, it's to help keep the shop fronts shaded from the sun And the deep curbs are to allow water to wash away from swilling down and cleaning of the blood and guts, thankfully no sign of that theses days!

A bit for the environment

As time goes by we try to keep up with what can be done better or smarter. To help us in our efforts to reduce and reuse plastics, why not bring in your own packaging for sausages and pies. A clean lunch box or takeaway tray works well.
